While she might not be as well-known as fellow Sanrio creation Hello Kitty, My Melody has still been a huge part of Japanese animation for 50 years. Netflix is keen to bring the adorable white rabbit to the world with a brand-new series. My Melody & Kuromi’s release date is coming soon, with the stop-motion animation looking every bit as adorable as you’d expect from the pair of iconic Sanrio characters.

We still don’t have a specific release date for the series, but My Melody & Kuromi has a release window of July 2025 on Netflix. We don’t know many details of the show just yet, including how many episodes the series will have. WIT Studio, who are also hard at work on Netflix’s upcoming One Piece remake, is handling the stop-motion animation for the show through their Toruku Studio division. My Melody & Kuromi joins other upcoming shows for a packed summer of animation specials.

The new show not only celebrates the 50th anniversary of My Melody’s creation but also serves as the 20th anniversary of Kuromi’s debut. The black-hatted rabbit is the more chaotic counterpart to My Melody’s sweetness. However, these are both Sanrio characters in the same vein as Hello Kitty, so we expect plenty of cute adventures that should look amazing in My Melody & Kuromi’s stop-motion animation. Fans can look forward to low-stakes, twee adventures that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy by the end.

My Melody & Kuromi will be released in July 2025 on Netflix, with a more specific release date expected to be announced shortly.
