My Dress-Up Darling season 2 release date: How long do we think we'll be waiting to see Marin and Gojo back on Crunchyroll

We've been waiting two years since season one but it looks like CloverWorks has bitten off a bit more than they expected.

The waiting, as they say, is the hardest part, so we can forgive anime fans for being a bit impatient at times. It has been more than two years since the first season of the My Dress-Up Darling anime aired, ending on a massive cliffhanger that desperately needs to be resolved. My Dress-Up Darling season two was confirmed in September 2022, with the second season coming in 2025.

In December 2024, Young Gangan magazine confirmed that My Dress-Up Darling season two would be coming in 2025 with a graphic on the cover of the new issue. That will put it at least three years after the first season took place, which is a long time to wait considering how popular the first season was when it aired in 2022. In March 2025, it was announced that My Dress-Up Darling season two would finally arrive in July 2025 and is expected to stream on Crunchyroll just like season one.

Why the long delay? We can’t be sure, but it could have something to do with creator Shinichi Fukuda’s slow pace of publication. Their schedule has dropped from every two weeks to monthly, with occasional hiatuses mixed in. The wait for season two of My Dress-Up Darling could also be down to how busy the animation studio has become. Since season one aired, CloverWorks has produced seven feature films and 10 seasons of anime, which is a pretty intense pace.

CloverWorks may not have foreseen My Dress-Up Darling being the huge success it is and committed to other projects, assuming the demand for season two wouldn’t be as high. We’re sure they’ll eventually find time to give us more of Marin and Gojo between producing hit shows like Windbreaker, Spy x Family, and The Elusive Samurai, right?

The long wait may have felt frustrating to fans, but at least that was enough time for Marin and Gojo to finally get together in the manga.
