Yeah, yeah, Christmas is supposed to be the season that brings people together. But my kind of people come together around the creepiest time of year; case in point, we just found out that Mike Flanagan is taking on another Stephen King project. News of the reunion comes from Deadline, just in time for Halloween.

According to Deadline's The Dish, the upcoming Carrie adaptation is an Amazon Prime streaming project, in which Flanagan will serve as showrunner. Instead of getting the feature film adaptation as it has before, this Carrie will take the form of an eight-episode miniseries on which Flanagan and frequent collaborator Travor Macy will serve as executive producers.

Fans of Flanagan's work (Fanagans? Flans?) know that this will mark the fifth time the director has tackled a Stephen King adaptation, with 2017's Gerald's Game and 2019's Doctor Sleep already under his belt, and the 2024 Life of Chuck and as-of-yet-unscheduled Dark Tower series on their way. And speaking of legacies, this project will also be the fifth in the number of Carrie adaptations, proceeded by Brian De Palma's 1976 adaptation, Katt Shea's The Rage: Carrie 2 from 1992, the David Carson-directed TV movie from 2002 (featuring a screenplay by Bryan Fuller), and most recently, the Chloë Grace Moretz-starring 2013 remake.

Whew, that's a lot of pig's blood and proms.

As of this writing, Amazon Prime's Carrie has no release date, but we'll let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime, get together with some of your favorite fiends - it's Halloween season, and there's plenty of Mike Flanagan horror projects to binge.
