Ortegas or Melissa: We play Who Is More Likely To? with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Melissa Navia

Beam aboard with Popverse video producer Ashley V. Robinson for a conversation on the difference between actor Melissa Navia and her Starfleet character, helmsman Erica Ortegas

Popverse still has acquired a transporter (believe me, we've been begging our parent company), but that doesn't mean we don't occasionally run into one or two of our favorite Starfleet crew members. For example, we were recently in Seattle for Emerald City Comic Con 2025, where we happened to bump into none other than Melissa Navia, who Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fans know as helmsman Erica Ortegas. And since Melissa was kind enough to chat with us, we thought we'd ask a bit about her character.

Of course, that's what we do here at Who Is More Likely To?, the interview series in which Popverse's video producer (and certified Trekkie) Ashley V. Robinson gets insight into your favorite pop culture characters via the actors that portray them. Join Ashley and Melissa as they cover red wine, flying the Enterprise, and more.

Space may be the final frontier, but there's no end to Popverse's love of the Star Trek universe. Hop aboard the starship Enterprise with our Star Trek watch order, explore strange new worlds with our upcoming Star Trek TV shows and movies list, seek out the new life of the franchise, and boldly go where no Star Trek film has ever gone before - with Quentin Tarantino?
