Even before it airs, Marvel Animation is giving Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man the same number of seasons as X-Men '97

Season 3 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was recently confirmed (no, season 1 hasn't even debuted yet), indicating Marvel Animation has the same faith in it as its nostalgic hit X-Men '97

In the Marvel universe, "The Parker Luck" is something you try to avoid. Here in our world, though, it's money in the bank. At least, that certainly seems to be the case over at Marvel Animation, who've just renewed Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man for a third season. If that sounds strange to you because, well, season 1 isn't even out yet, you're right - Marvel Animation is putting a serious amount of faith in their newest Peter Parker. As much faith, as it turns out, as they've put in their most successful project yet: X-Men '97.

The news of the show's season 3 came to us on January 26 from the good folks over at The Movie Podcast. Speaking with the Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, the podcast interviewers discovered that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammel will be pitching season 3 ideas soon.

(Not for nothing, TMP also learned that scripts for season 2 are done, and that the team is "halfway through" animatics, according to Winderbaum. That's quick work, gang.)

If news of an exciting season 3 announcement from Winderbaum sounds familiar to you, you might be remembering that the very same thing happened in March of 2024. That's when Winderbaum sat down with Phase Hero to discuss news of X-Men '97's third season. Here's the big difference, though - when Winderbaum announced season 3 of X-Men '97, the show had already taken its place as a fandom favorite. According to Variety, it was the third-most watched Disney+ series of 2024.

Will Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man be able to achieve those numbers? On the one hand, it's fighting an uphill battle, with X-Men '97 attracting viewers that were already fans of the original X-Men: The Animated Series. On the other hand, though, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man creatives have confirmed that the show will share DNA with the Tom Holland Spider-Man, perhaps attracting an even wider audience pool.

We'll have to see which way that Parker luck leans.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (season 1, mind you) premieres January 29 on Disney+.
