It's no surprise that a creator like Terry Matalas would one day end up in the Marvel Universe. The showrunner of the upcoming VisionQuest show is known for creating shows like 12 Monkeys and Star Trek: Picard previously. So it's natural that the MCU would be a place for Matalas to find his footing with one of the most science fiction-y of all Avengers, the Vision.
Matalas's perspective as a creator is something that the actor behind Vision, Paul Bettany, praised in a recent interview.
"I think that [Terry Matalas] just understood in his bones who Vision is for. And Vision is for the kid that I was when I was a kid, the kid that felt like an outsider and felt like they had no community that they fit into... I think we made a really fun and entertaining show about a guy who is an outsider and is trying to find out who he is, Bettany told Screen Rant.
In VisionQuest, Bettany will be joined by James Spader, who is reprising his role as Vision's dad (in the MCU at least), Ultron. Previously, Bettany has described the show as a story about "intergenerational trauma" between "fathers and sons."
VisionQuest is expected to hit Disney+ later this year.
