Star Wars' Andor season 2 will bring back two more characters from Rogue One

It's time to bring on the bad guys in the second season of the Star Wars spin-off

Expect some familiar faces with Lucasfilm’s Andor returns for its second season in 2025. A sizzle reel debuted at D23 Expo 2024 revealed that it’s not just Diego Luna’s title character who’s coming back for the new season, but Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO… and Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic, the Imperial officer behind the Death Star construction in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Speaking on-stage before the footage was shown to the audience in the Honda Center, Luna said of the new season — the second half of the miniseries, which will lead directly into events as seen in Rogue One — “this second part will follow Cassian over the period of four years as he grows into the hero we see make the ultimate sacrifice in Rogue One.”

It’s worth pointing out that the first season of Andor teased the beginning of the construction of the Death Star, meaning that it’s possible that Krennic will be the core villain throughout the entire second season, even if he and Andor never actually meet. Showrunner Tony Gilroy was seen in the footage teasing, “the rebellion goes big” in the second half of the series.

Andor season 2 is expected at some point in 2025 on Disney+.
