Kaiju No. 8 rampages back onto Crunchyroll with 2025 release window
A recap film and brand new filler episode are expected to be released shortly before the new season.

As soon as Kaiju No. 8 season one ended, a second season was already confirmed by Production I.G. Now, we have a better idea of when the monstrous anime will be returning to Crunchyroll – turns out we won’t have to wait very long at all to see more of the best superhero anime around while fans in Japan will get to relieve the first season on the big screen.
The official website for Kaiju No. 8’s anime series has revealed the release window for the next season. Kaiju No. 8 season two will air sometime in 2025, though we don’t know exactly when in the year it will be. However, that isn’t the only exciting announcement to come this week for Kaiju fans. A compilation film for the first season is currently in production and will include an original episode titled Hoshina’s Day Off. The website also revealed the first trailer for the second season of Kaiju No. 8, though it doesn't give much away about what to expect when it airs.
There is a catch, though – the compilation film is primarily going to be a recap of the first season, and it is only expected to be screened in Japan. Like the second season, the only release window we have for this new Kaiju No. 8 compilation film and the original episode is the suitably vague 2025. If we had to guess, we’d say that the film will be shown a few weeks before the new season airs, so one release date is likely to influence the other. There is no word on if international fans will get to see it, but, if we do, it will probably be via Crunchyroll.
Season one began airing in April 2024, so the most likely release date for Kaiju No. 8 season two is probably during the same season in 2025, but it wouldn’t be unprecedented for it to shift later in the year to Summer or Fall to give the animators more time to bring those giant monsters to life.
