New trailer makes Peacock's HYSTERIA! look like Modern Family meets The Evil Dead... with the stars of Modern Family and The Evil Dead
Sure, the teens of Peacock's heavy-metal, Satanic Panic horror series are the stars. But Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Evil Dead's Bruce Campbell headlined the newest trailer

Those kids from Modern Family were always up to something, weren't they? Always trying to have a little fun with some unintended, often hilarious consequences! If you think about it, that's kind of what was going on with the (older) teens in the first two Evil Dead movies too, although their consequences were a bit more horrific than hilarious. If you would have never thought of linking those two pieces of media in your mind, well, neither would I... but then I saw the latest trailer for Peacock's HYSTERIA!, which you can watch here.
Upon first glance, Peacock's official synopsis of the movie sounds like something from a family sitcom, the likes of which star Julia Bowen headlined for 11 years. "When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the 'Satanic Panic' of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts [...] realize that they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band," it reads. But when actual demonic activity starts plaguing the town's residents, the show slips firmly into the territory of the movie's other star, Bruce Campbell, the Evil Dead's leading man and horror movie legend.
Of course, the movie doesn't just star Bowen and Campbell, who play mom Linda Campbell and Chief Dandridge respectively (as an aside, did the writers name their central family "the Campbells" and then cast Bruce on purpose?). It also Pitch Perfect's Anna Camp and Chiara Aurelia, who earned her own "dark teen period piece" bonafides from Freeform's cruel Summer. And finally, fans of holiday horror may recognize the main character of Dylan Campbell as actor Emjay Anthony, who starred as the precocious Max in 2015's Christmas chiller (and personal favorite) Krampus.
All episodes of HYSTERIA! will be possessing Peacock starting October 18.
