His & Hers Season 2 is unlikely, but director William Oldroyd teases one idea

Netflix series His & Hers, which sees Marvel Studios stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal in a taut murder mystery, wraps up pretty neatly in season 1. But if director Oldroyd *had* to make another season...

Major spoilers for Netflix's His & Hers follow.

Will there be a His & Hers season 2? That's the question on the minds of so many Netflix viewers, having rocketed the Tessa Thompson/Jon Bernthal-starring thriller to the top of the streamer's charts. We're going to tell you right now, murder fans - a second season is unlikely. The basis for the miniseries, Alice Feeney's novel of the same name, wraps up the same way the show does, with no follow-up novel explaining where the characters go from the end.

Even still, that fact hasn't stopped series director William Oldroyd from having ideas.

Oldroyd recently sat down to chat about the series with Forbes, in an article published January 28. And while Oldroyd absolutely did not confirm that either he or Netflix were working on a season 2 of the ratings-topper, he did explain what's been kicking around in his mind.

"The question I have is," began the Eileen director, "'Where do you pick it up from? Do you pick it up straight from where you’ve just left off? What does she do with this information? Or do we just move on?'"

In case you haven't already gathered, reader, the "she" that Oldroyd is referring to is series main character Anna (Thompson), who was just as shocked as you were to discover the killer at the heart of the story was none other than her own mother.

"For me," continued Oldroyd, "It’s like, 'Do you want to see what she does with that information, or do you want to just start from a position which is further down the line and she’s sitting with it, and it’s still there, and she knows the truth, see how it plays out with her relationship with her mother after that?'"

Well there you have it, folks; that's about as close to a His & Hers season 2 pitch as you're going to get. And if we're being completely honest - with both Thompson and Bernthal becoming bigger movie stars by the day, it might just be as close to His & Hers season 2 you get at all.

His & Hers is streaming on Netflix now.
