Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to have our lives together, and we don’t take the time to enjoy what we are doing in the moment. Keigo Shinzo’s Hirayasumi manga is about dealing with grief, anxiety, and learning how to enjoy life. Now, Viz Media has announced that Hirayasumi is getting an anime adaptation in 2027, and it is exactly the kind of slice-of-life story we think we need to watch.

Hirayasumi is about  29-year-old Hiroto Ikuta, who is living his best life. He doesn’t have a girlfriend, a steady job, or any intention to find either. He is the undisputed King of Being Chill, which is honestly pretty great to see. The story of how he finds his way in life and how he helps his young cousin do the same is at the core of what makes Hirayasumi such an endearing story.

The Hirayasumi manga has been serialized in Japan since 2021 and has been published by Viz Media since 2024. It has already had a live-action adaptation in Japan, but this latest adaptation brings the story of Hiroto to anime. The initial announcement trailer didn’t show off any animation, but it did give us a breakdown of who will be producing the Hirayasumi anime.

The animation studio producing Hirayasumi is Production +h, who are best known for their work on The Orbital Children and Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction.

The Hiryasumi anime has a release window of 2027, so we don’t expect more details until much later in 2027. Still, it is good to know we’re getting such a memorable slice-of-life anime next year.
