There is no shortage of police procedurals out there on TV. Every season it seems like there is a new CSI or NCIS series to dive into, so it takes a lot for us to pay attention to a new one. High Potential just manages to push ahead of the competition thanks to the performance of series lead, Kaitlin Olson. The next episode of High Potential is your best chance to see her in action and you won’t want to miss it.

High Potential is about a single mother with an exceptionally high IQ who, upon offering her opinion on a case to the LAPD, finds herself acting as a consultant for the Major Crimes unit, which is a pretty big step up from her previous job, which was working as a night janitor for the department. It is a fairly straightforward setup that is largely saved by the performance of Kaitlin Olson, who brings a comedic flare from her time on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia to the show that might otherwise feel too by-the-numbers.

Want to see what we mean? Well, you should check out the next episode of High Potential when it airs on ABC. The show’s current timeslot is Tuesdays at 9 pm EST on ABC, with new episodes airing weekly. The show has proven to be a big hit for ABC, who moved it to an earlier timeslot following the mid-season break during its first season.

The next episode of High Potential is:

  • High Potential season 1 episode 8:  TBC – January 7, 2025 at 9 pm EST on ABC

Each week on High Potential, Kaitlin Olson’s character, Morgan, is brought in to help the LAPD solve a seemingly unsolvable case. Meanwhile, she is trying to find her ex-husband, who disappeared 15 years ago. Classic case of “The detective that is so smart they solve everyone else’s crimes but can’t solve the one haunting them” syndrome. As we said, High Potential is a very formulaic show that is simply executed very well, making it worth watching for fans of police procedurals. If you've been looking for something to watch since Monk ended, this might be the one for you.
