Bryce Pinkham, who voices the ostentatious owl demon Stolas in Helluva Boss, says the animated musical comedy show that will soon debut on Amazon Prime Video has resonated with fans. The actor and singer, who's been nominated for Tony and Grammy Awards, said he found it fulfilling to bring such meaning to viewers.
"I remember a version of myself as a young person who wanted to figure out a way to do something silly and fun that also made me feel like I was making a difference in the world in the time I have on earth," he says at Fan Expo Chicago. "I was age 5 of whatever."
Helluva Boss let him accomplish his childhood dream.
"When people come up to me or come up to any of us and say that character's story did this for me and my life and I feel better for having watched it, that fulfills that younger version of me," he says.
"I thought we were doing silly voices and now we're reaching people and generating meaning in the lives of strangers. What is better than this? The thing that we lack on Broadway is to get that immediate... or actually nine months later we hear how much the show, that episode means. On Broadway, we don't always get that direct channel and the ability to have a decent chat."
Helluva Boss will be released on Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 10.
