Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano knows the secret that can make Halloween bigger than Christmas

It shouldn't surprise fans of the Hellaverse-set musical comedy, but Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano believes the answer is in music

If we had to guess, we'd say that the Hazbin Hotel cast is more into Halloween than they are Christmas. Actually, we don't have to do any guessing at all - they straight up told us that at New York Comic Con 2025. And not only did they profess their love for Samhain over Santa, series creator Vivienne Medrano revealed what she thinks is the key for Halloween taking over the Top Holiday Spot.

It's all in the catchy music.

The topic came up during Popverse's conversation with the cast, who were at NYCC '25 just ahead of the release of Hazbin Hotel season 2. During that chat, it was Angel Dust voice actor Blake Roman who brought up the comparison between the two holidays, after being asked what it is he was doing to celebrate All Hallow's Eve.

"Rage, honestly," said Roman. "I love Halloween. Spooky season is the season for me. If Halloween and Christmas could switch places... I feel like Christmas gets at least 2 months to get celebrated. I want more Halloween."

"Halloween needs more songs," interjected Medrano (you heard it here first, folks). "I've noticed that Christmas has songs dedicated to it. Halloween doesn't have that many. I think that's part of it."

Now there's a stellar idea, Vivienne. I mean, I'll listen to Monster Mash and the Ghostbusters theme every time they show up on my Spotify, but it wouldn't hurt to have a little bit more variety in there. And it would be a goshdarn blessing (can I say that in relation to this show?) if Cherri Bomb voice actor Krystina Alabado's idea got any legs.

"Let’s make a Hazbin Hotel Halloween song!" Alabado said.

We're ready when you are, Krystina.

Hazbin Hotel season 2 is on Prime Video now.
