Hazbin Hotel leaks felt “like a fairy tale curse,” says composer Sam Haft
Leaks have plagued Hazbin Hotel before season 1 of the show even debuted on Prime Video, but composer Sam Haft is optimistic about the future

Sadly, a part of being a pop culture fan today is navigating an internet minefield full of leaks. This has been a persistent part of the internet for the past 20 years or so, but with today's social media landscape, it's made all the more thorny. And sadly, we can't all be Vincent Cassel's character from Ocean's Twelve, dancing his way through a museum security laser field, avoiding all possible leaks. Once something is up on this here 'net, it's difficult to put out the ensuing firestorm.
Hazbin Hotel has had two different leak incidents, the first being before season 1 of the show even dropped on Prime Video. But the leak that happened ahead of season 2's release felt even more violating for the team behind the show, says composer Sam Haft. Season 2's leak came after an animation studio in Italy got hacked, with storyboards and "rough animation for some scenes" ending up online, where it "started spreading on TikTok and all that.”
Speaking to Parade, Haft said, “It might have been someone who was just trying to hack into animation studios to just try to get whatever content they had and hold it for ransom. This fandom, they’re so passionate and they will seek whatever they can find. And some really wanted to avoid the leaks. And I feel awful for them. There are so many people who were sharing them, not maliciously, but out of excitement of like, ‘Oh my God, I’m desperate for more Hazbin Hotel content.'”
Haft continued, “It was a never-ending thing where it felt like someone had caught some bad juju somewhere. It was like a fairy tale curse. The show that would not stop leaking.”
Haft assured Parade that another leak wouldn't happen for seasons 3 and 4. Let's hope the curse has been reversed.
