Hulu officially orders The Handmaid's Tale sequel The Testaments, announces Sweet Tooth, You, and Safe Home actors to star

Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, and Mabel Li will feature as major players in The Testament's, the follow-up to Hulu's successful series based on Margaret Atwood's prescient novel

There's more to the story of Gilead, and not only do we know that we'll be seeing it, we know who will star in the telling. Hulu has officially ordered to series a sequel to its massively popular, extraordinarily relevant The Handmaid's Tale show, ahead of its sixth and final season. The follow-up, called The Testaments, already has a handful of actors involved in the project.

The news comes from Variety, who give the names of eleven cast members confirmed for the series. Among those are three major players, beginning with Amy Seimetz, who appears to be the series lead. Joining Seimetz are Brad Alexander, who featured in season 4 of You, and Mabel Li, who is familiar to Hulu from the 2023 thriller Safe Home.

The other actors confirmed by Hulu, along with their characters' names, are as follows:

  • Chase Infiniti as Agnes
  • Zarrin Darnell-Martin as Aunt Gabbana
  • Eva Foote as Aunt Estee
  • Isolde Ardies as Hulda
  • Shechinah Mpumlwana as Jehosheba
  • Birva Pandya as Miriam
  • Kira Guloien as Rosa

Variety also makes the note that Mattea Conforti, Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Ann Dowd, and Rowan Blanchard were previously announced as being involved in the show.

While we do know that The Testaments will be based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood, itself a sequel story to The Handmaid's Tale, what Hulu has not yet revealed when we can expect to see the series debut on the streamer. However, we do know that production on the series begins April 7 (yes, this April 7!), so hopefully there won't be too long of a wait until we get to binge it.

In the meantime, The Handmaid's Tale season 6 debuts on Hulu April 8, 0225.
