Greg Nicotero has directed 37 episodes of The Walking Dead, and that number increases if you count his directorial work on the various spinoff projects. Greg has also done makeup and special effects work for the series and various other horror projects.

Simply put, Nicotero knows horror and he has the resume to prove it. Now he’s bringing his horror expertise to Guts & Glory, his new reality horror series. The show, which streams on Shudder, puts contestants through various horror-related challenges. In other words, Nicotero wants to give his contestants a good scare. However, this means it has to be done right the first time.

“The big trick was it all had to be done live because what I wanted to do is capture the experience that the contestants were having,” Greg Nicotero tells Popverse’s Grant DeArmitt. “You don’t get take two. You don’t reset it. The cameras were always instructed to concentrate on the reactions of the contestants because that’s important.”
