Let's hope they pump up the heavy metal a bit in the final product.

If you love the Guilty Gear series, you’re in for a real treat as we’ve just had a load of new information delivered about Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers. The anime sequel to Guilty Gear Strive promises to build off of the story of the game when it is released sometime in 2025.

The announcement came during a special event at Anime Expo 2024 aimed at celebrating Guilty Gear Strive. The teaser trailer sets the scene for the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers by introducing the war between humanity and magic-fuelled biological weapons known as Gears. We see some of the characters from the upcoming series, though it doesn’t really show much of the fast-paced fighting action or the heavy metal soundtrack that the game series is known for. In fact, the trailer feels almost too toned down compared to the source material, but we’ll wait and see how the Guilty Gear Strive anime shapes up by the time it is released.

The trailer didn’t give a specific release date for Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers. Instead, it just said that the series would be out in 2025. The staff at the Anime Expo panel assured fans that the anime was aiming to be accessible to both new and existing fans of the franchise without losing the fighting spirit that has carried the Guilty Gear series since the first game came out way back in 1998.

We do know, however, that the anime serves as a sequel to Guilty Gear Strive and follows Sin Kiske, the child who was born from the forbidden union of a human and a Gear. Years after the end of the war, Sin Kiske can attend his parents’ wedding, though we’re guessing not everything is going to go as planned.

Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers is due out sometime in 2025.
