Surprise, there's a Ghosts movie - and it's out this year (in the UK, at least)
If you're in the UK or Ireland, expect to find Ghosts: The Possession of Button House in a theater near you this Halloween

I'm sure you've read this in one of the articles with my name on it before: it's never too early to start planning for Halloween. But just because you've heard it repeated doesn't mean it's not true, especially when some beloved piece of macabre media announces they already have Halloween plans. And as it turns out, that's exactly the case for the UK version of Ghosts, which announced a release date for its upcoming movie.
Yes, you read that correctly. Not only do we now know that the popular UK series that inspired the US Ghosts is getting a sequel in the form of a big screen outing, but we also know when it will be in theaters! Well, in UK and Ireland theaters, at least - according to the Radio Times, Ghosts: The Possession of Button House will be in theaters October 23.
"We’re excited to give families something they can enjoy together this Halloween," said Lionsgate UK's Marie-Claire Benson, EVP, Head of the Motion Picture Group, "And what better way to celebrate than seeing everyone’s favourite ghosts on the big screen, to capture the spirit of the season."
Little is known about the plot of The Possession of Button House as of this writing, but we do at least know that the film will be in good, familiar hands. Actors Lolly Adefope, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond are all returning for the film as their beloved characters, and the team of Baynton, Farnaby, Howe-Douglas, Howick, Rickard and Willbond are penning the script. Simon Hynd, who helmed 1 episodes of the original series, is stepping into the director's chair for this big screen outing.
Now I just need to know when it'll be in theaters in the US. After all, as we've well established here, my October schedule is already getting pretty packed.
Ghosts (or Ghosts UK, for all you yanks) is streaming on Paramount+ now.
