Yes, there is a Critical Role group chat (but we’ll never see it)

The Critical Role cast reveal that they have a chaotic text thread that they will never share

Popverse’s coverage of Emerald City Comic Con is brought to you by Signet Collectibles, the go-to place for authentic autographed items! Embrace your collecting Journey.

Some Hollywood friendships are manufactured, but the bond between the Critical Role gang is absolutely real. If the banter on their show wasn’t convincing enough, just watch any of their convention panels. The cast immediately begin referencing inside jokes, finishing one another sentences, and making each other laugh. Even if they’re referencing something the audience doesn’t know, the banter and the bond is endearing enough that it’s still entertaining.

This was on display once again during their Emerald City Comic Con 2026 spotlight panel.

“We just formed a new memory of you last night,” Sam Riegel tells Taliesin Jaffe. “Yes, we did. We have a text thread that will never be seen,” Jaffe replies.

Yes, a Critical Role text thread exists (as if there was any doubt), and now I really want to see it. If it’s anything like the conversations they have on camera or during convention panels, then it’s probably irreverent, crude, provocative, and damn entertaining. Or maybe it’s just Travis Willingham and Ashley Johnson spamming emojis. Either way, if the Critical Role cast ever wants to give us a small screenshot, I’m sure Critters around the globe will appreciate it.

With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:

...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
