Wayne Brady's Legend of Vox Machina character Taryon Darrington is so good the Critical Role staff are already talking about a spin-off for him

Ahead of the character's introduction to Prime Video's Campaign 1 adaptation, Sam Riegel revealed that there is a concerted effort to get Taryon Darrington (Wayne Brady) his own show. From one writer, at least

Critical Role's The Legend of Vox Machina is already three seasons into its run, but one of the fandom's favorite characters still has yet to make his official appearance. That will change in season 4, when Taryon Darrington, played by comedy legend Wayne Brady, joins the storyline. Originally played by Sam Riegel in Critical Role campaign 1, Darrington's appearance is sure to inspire plenty of love from Critters everywhere...

And if one Legend of Vox Machina season 4 writer has their way, a spinoff.

Popverse's Trent Cannon recently got to sit down with The Legend of Vox Machina voice actors (and OG Critical Rolers) Laura Bailey, Liam O'Brien, Sam Riegel, and Taliesin Jaffe. During their conversation, Trent asked about the future of Critical Role's much-beloved human artificer, and Taryon's original avatar was only happy to provide answers.

"Could we get a Taryon Darrington spinoff?" mused Riegel. "[In] season 4 and season 5, one of the writers was a guy named Francisco Angones, who joined us for season 4. And Frank, as we call him, is the hugest Taryon Darrington fan in the world. His mission for this season was to make Taryon so beloved that he gets his own spinoff. So yes, there are many of us who think that Tayron can support other stuff."

Stepping in for a moment here - Riegel isn't just talking about any old Critical Role/Taryon Darrington fan with an idea for a spinoff. With credits like Central Park, Wander Over Yonder, and a whopping 69 episodes of the DuckTales reboot, Angones is a serious name in the animation game, and his support as Riegel explains it could mean real results for more of the Vox Machina B-character. That said, Riegel also points to the fact that Taryon has already returned to the TTRPG actual play medium, after an episode focused on him and Exandria's 'Darrington Brigade' recently streamed on Critical Role's channels.

"I would love to see more adventures with the Darrington Brigade," the Phoenix Wright voice actor continued, "In live shows or on our channel. That whole group with Taryon and his weirdo buddies is so fun and interesting. It gives all of us a chance to just be silly, which is great."

"I sure hope we see Tyrion and other stuff," Riegel concluded. "I guess we'll see how audiences react to him in a few days when [The Legend of Vox Machina season 4] drops, but if they love him half as much as we do, he should probably have his own movie."

Don't get our hopes up, Sam. Don't get our hopes up.

The Legend of Vox Machina season 4, starring Wayne Brady as Taryon Darrington, heads to Prime Video beginning June 3.

With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:

...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
