What does a Time Lord do when they’re not going on adventures? They unwind and watch movies and television shows. Just ask Matt Smith. In between his various acting commitments, Smith enjoys a peaceful afternoon watching a movie.
During a spotlight panel at CCXP, the former Doctor was asked to share what he’s been watching in his spare time. “I love Jack Nicholson a lot. I love Anthony Hopkins,” Smith said.
He also shared his love for one of his favorite films.
“American Psycho,” Smith continued. “I did the musical of that. I think they’re making a new film of that which is really exciting. I love that book, it’s brilliant, and I love that movie. I love Christian Bale, he’s great.”
Like most of us, Smith is also excited about the new season of Squid Games.
“What have I been watching recently? I’m looking forward to the new Squid Games coming out.”
He also shared his love for a few other television shows.
“Severance, I love. I absolutely love it. That’s brilliant. There’s another series of that coming out.”
“I like The Last of Us, that was cool,” Smith said, before clarifying that he wasn’t a gamer. “And now they’re doing a Minecraft series, are they?” The statement was clarified after Smith realized it was a movie and not a television series.
The Minecraft Movie arrives in theaters on April 4, 2025. Don’t be surprised if you happen to see Matt Smith in the theater on opening weekend.
