In 2011 Smallville concluded its 10 season run, with Clark Kent finally embracing his destiny as Superman. We all thought this was the end of the story, but Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum have other ideas. 

Speaking to a crowd at Tampa Bay Comic Convention, Rosenbaum gave fans an update on the animated sequel he and Tom Welling have been developing. 

“Tom [Welling] and I came up with this idea for an animated series, and we pitched it to Al [Gough] and Miles [Millar] who created Smallville, and they loved it. They’re behind it, and when it’s the right time, we’re going to pitch that. We’ve got some great ideas, and we’d love to bring back all the actors for the voices of the characters. We’ll see what happens. We’ve been trying to get that to happen, but it will take some time.”

A Smallville sequel would be cool, especially if we finally got to see Tom’s version of Clark during the height of his Superman career. While Rosenbaum didn’t mention him, it’s worth noting that his good friend James Gunn is co-president of DC Studios. Of course, that doesn’t mean the series is a guarantee, but booking the meeting shouldn’t be too hard.
