Netflix's Cobra Kai season 6 part 3 release date is coming, and the Karate Kid movie has moved out of its way
Did Cobra Kai just sweep the leg of the Karate Kid movie franchise?

Once they were the student, now they are the master. Netflix's Cobra Kai has firmly planted its foot in the mat in revealing when the final episodes of the final season of the Karate Kid spin-off season will air. And it comes after a behind-the-scenes tussle between it and the main Karate Kid franchise that might have caught you off-guard.
Coba Kai season 6 part 3 will air February 13, 2025 on Netflix.
So... what happened? Earlier this year, Netflix announced that the final season of Cobra Kai would be split into three parts, but only gave out release dates for parts one and two. They didn't state a reason behind holding back on the finale, but it turns out it was right out of Daniel LaRusso's Crane Kick - waiting for the opponent to make a move, then going in for the strike.
Originally, Sony Pictures' scheduled the new Karate Kid: Legends movie to come out December 13, 2024; yes, two day before Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 on December 15. This movie is the metaphorical Spider-Verse of Karate Kid movies, bringing together Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso and Jackie Chan's Mr. Han (from 2010's Karate Kid movie) into one movie - tying together both threads of this franchise's continuity (which you can learn all about with our how to watch Cobra Kai & the Karate Kid in order guide).
(Danny McBride is also in it, which could be horribly wrong or horribly perfect, but that's an aside).
As I mentioned, originally Sony planned to release Karate Kid: Legends on December 13 - right in the middle of Netflix's 3-hit combo that is Cobra Kai season 6 parts 1, 2, and 3. But then, Sony begged off - moving Karate Kid: Legends back to May 30, 2025, despite 2024 being 40 years exactly since the original Karate Kid movie. Why the change? According to The Hollywood Reporter's Aaron Couch, Sony did it specifically because it no longer wanted to debut in the midst of Cobra Kai's finale but instead after.
Karate Kid 3 villain Terry Silver once said "From now on, all that anyone will know about is Cobra Kai Karate." I wouldn't go that far in here in the real world, but the Karate Kid master franchise is coming to respect the Cobra Kai protege more than ever.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3 debuts February 13, 2025 on Netflix, followed by Karate Kid: Legends May 30 in theaters.
