Chicago PD Season 13 recap: What to remember before Season 14 debuts on NBC

The continuation of that shocking season 13 cliffhanger arrives in October

The One Chicago franchise began with Chicago Fire and has since expanded to include several spinoffs, including Chicago PD. The second spinoff of the One Chicago franchise, the release date for Chicago PD Season 14 on NBC will be here before you know it. So what should you remember from Chicago PD Season 13 in advance of the new season's arrival?

What is Chicago PD?

Chicago PD, created by Dick Wolf, is a police procedural drama series that details the personal and professional lives of the officers and staff of the Intelligence Unit of the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department. The series was the first spin-off of Chicago Fire, officially launching the 'One Chicago' franchise as something larger than one single series.

The current cast includes Jason Beghe as Sergeant Henry "Hank" Voight, Patrick John Flueger as Officer Adam Ruzek, Marina Squerciati as Detective Kim Burgess, LaRoyce Hawkins as Officer Kevin Atwater, Arienne Mandi as Officer Eva Imani and Amy Morton as Sergeant Gertrude "Trudy" Platt.

What happened in the Chicago PD Season 13 finale?

In the Chicago PD Season 13 finale, things go serious for Officer Imani. While she was able to finally locate her long-lost, human trafficked sister, Shari (Selin Çuhadaroğlu), their reunion was not a happy one. Shari had been brainwashed to protect her abuser, causing her to murder a sex worker, attempt to murder Imani and then attempt suicide. In the wake of these revelations, Imani and Officer Voight are left with a difficult decision: do they bury the associated DNA evidence so as to protect Shari?

The release date for the first episode of Chicago PD Season 14 on NBC is Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 at 10:00 PM (after Chicago Med at 8:00 PM and Chicago Fire at 9:00 PM). New episodes are available for streaming on Peacock the next day.
