Commenting on his own rewatch of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, series star James Marsters recently admits to asking himself: "Can you play that character again?"

Taking a step back here - as you probably know, Slayer-fans, Hulu is putting together a relaunch of the most famous vampire-hunting TV series to have ever existed. Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, has been confirmed to return as the titular mosnter-killer, and now, the internet is pretty darn sure that costar Marsters is stepping back into his antiheroic, vampiric character. Let's get into why.

The comment above comes from an appearance Marsters made on The Bitch is Back podcast, a rewatch series hosted by Buffy costar Charisma Carpenter. As reported by Collider, the conversation between the ex-Scooby Gang members featured a pretty pausable moment, one that was either a truly unfortunate misspeak by Marsters or an accidental admission of his involvement with the relaunch.

"I had to go back," Marsters said. "And watch it just to ask myself, 'Can you play that character again?' Nevermind the externals. Can you internally get back to that psychology?"

Carpenter herself was quick to catch on, asking the actor (and ECCC '24 attendee) if he was "exclusively admitting that [he's] part of the reboot."

"I am not," Marsters said quickly, then - "No. I have no idea," which I'll remind readers are in fact three different answers. Most damning of all, though, is that Marsters seemed to change his answer even further, conceding "What can I say? There is interest in having me back."

Sure seems like there's more than "interest," James, but what do I know?
