DC Studios has cast Big Barda for Mister Miracle cartoon, and showrunner Tom King teases it was a "fun problem" to solve

If you know Mister Miracle like Tom King does, you know that you can’t have a Mister Miracle TV show without Big Barda. The husband and wife team have been one of the most enduring couples in DC Comics since they were introduced in Jack Kirby’s Fourth World series. However, finding the voice of Big Barda was a “fun problem” for Tom King and the rest of the producers of the Mister Miracle animated series.
That is how Tom King described their attempts to find the voice of Big Barda during the Jack Kirby Tribute Panel at San Diego Comic Con 2026. She’s a unique figure in DC Comics, as she is a brutal and aggressive fighter while also having her romantic relationship with Mister Miracle at the core of her character. As showrunner for the Mister Miracle animated series, King is privy to all the information about the show. However, he couldn’t be tricked into letting any of the unannounced casting slip at the panel. “They’re good. They’re real good,” he insisted.
The most he would say is that finding the right voice for Big Barda presented a Big Problem for the producers. “Guy, if you ever want to have fun, cast Big Barda. Oh my God, what a fun casting problem that was.”
Who did Tom King and the rest of the production team settle upon? All we know is that Tom King called them a “brilliant actress.” That doesn’t exactly narrow it down, but we’re sure we’ll find out soon. King goes as far as to promise to show an episode at SDCC 2027, so we’ve got that to look forward to, right?
