Ever since it went on its longest hiatus in its 25-year history, there has been a One Piece-shaped hole in our anime viewing schedules. Sure, the Fishman Island Saga remake has been worth watching, but we’re all eager to see how Egghead Island ranks among One Piece arcs. Now, we have an exact release date for when the One Piece anime will return from hiatus in April.
At Jump Fiesta 2025, Toei confirmed that the One Piece anime would begin broadcasting new episodes on April 6, 2025. Combined with the impending release of a new One Piece movie and the second season of Netflix’s live-action series, 2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for Eiichiro Oda’s epic adventure. Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats are going to be kept busy for the next 12 months.
It is also worth mentioning that when One Piece returns to Japanese TV in April, it will be at a different time. It will now air at 11:15 PM in Japan / 9:15 AM EST. This is an almost 12-hour shift in its usual time slot. No reason for such a drastic change in its broadcast schedule has been given by Toei, but it could have to do with how the company sees One Piece as a global property instead of a strictly Japanese one. Instead of being late-night viewing, fans in the US will be able to wake up every Saturday morning to a new One Piece episode starting on April 6, 2025.
