The Viltrum Empire has unfinished business with Mark Grayson.
When Invincible returns for season four in March 2026, the series will be introducing Thragg, Grant Regent of the Viltrum Empire. I won’t spoil anything for people who haven’t read the comics, but let’s just say he’s a big deal, and his introduction to the series means that big things are about to go down.
“Thragg is just a monumental addition to the show that is going to change everything you know about the Invincible universe,” Invincible co-creator Robert Kirkman says during a panel at New York Comic Con.
The panel was then interrupted by a disembodied voice giving a chilling monologue.
“I am Thragg. Bred to be the Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire. I was created to rule. I was given power and fury and strength and rage to lead, conquer, to kill.”
Lee Pace then came onstage, revealing himself as the voice actor for Thragg.
“I’m excited to be here. I’m excited to see your reaction to it. My god, you guys love this thing. This is exciting. I feel like I’m in for quite a ride,” Pace says.
Pace went on to say that he’s seen some finished scenes, and even he’s blown away by his character.
“It was just a few weeks ago that I saw some scenes with my voice and Thragg, and I was like, damn, this is going to be fun. This is going to be cool.”
Kirkman was asked when he knew Pace would be the perfect actor for Thragg, and interestingly enough, the idea predates the animated series.
“Honestly, long before the show existed.” Kirkman says. “You just kind of get things in the back of your mind, watching Pushing Daisies and Halt and Catch Fire. Lee’s performance in Halt and Catch Fire especially is powerful and moving, and was so memorable for me. He just has this perfect tone to his voice that embodies everything that Corey Walker and Ryan Ottley and I wanted to bring out of Thragg.”
Invincible season four premieres March 2026 on Prime Video.
