Who knew an invasion could be this fun?
The Alien franchise has viciously returned as one of pop culture's apex predators after 2024's Alien: Romulus, the second-best box-office performing film in the franchise. There's a sequel already being developed for theaters but, even before that, xenomorphiles will get to see their favorite two-jawed terror unleash hell in a whole new space: TV. That project is Noah Hawley's highly-anticipated Alien: Earth, and now, we know a little bit more as to when we'll get to watch it.
The news comes from a promo put out by FX Networks, who are producing the series, on their YouTube channel. Check out the video here:
That's right, Alien: Earth will be headed to your homes some time in the Summer of 2025. As you saw in the video above, the project is an FX on Hulu joint, meaning that it is FX original programing that streams exclusively on Hulu. Unfortunately, that's about all we know regarding the details of the release.
We do, however, know a few of the plot details, as you remember when Popverse covered the release of the first Alien: Earth synopsis. Essentially, the series will revolve around "a mysterious space vessel" landing on Earth and the "ragtag group of tactical soldiers" that encounter it. We also get from this trailer that there may be a theme of pregnancy in the series, which the franchise has made use of since its conception (heh). The ending of Alien: Romulus, for example, had a lot to do with pregnancy, and the franchise's use of the theme even inspired American Horror Story season 12.
Just like a pregnancy, we can't perfectly predict the exact delivery date of FX and Noah Hawley's Alien series (for now, at least), but we can guarantee that it will be a big deal when it comes into the world. Not that the Alien franchise needs new life right now, but it's coming anyway, probably screaming and covered in goo.
If you love aliens bursting out of chests and hugging your face, then we have all you could want from Popverse's Alien watch order, details on where Romulus fits into the Alien timeline, and all you need to know on the upcoming Aliens TV show with Timothy Oliphant.
