After exploding onto the scene with last year’s Void Rivals, the Energon Universe — Skybound’s line of interconnected comic series featuring Hasbro’s Transformers and G.I. Joe properties — is getting even bigger this summer, as Popverse can exclusively announce the debut of Energon Universe Special 2024 #1, hitting stores in May.

Featuring the same story content as the upcoming Transformers & G.I. Joe: Welcome to the Energon Universe Free Comic Book Day release, the Energon Universe Special 2024 will be released with five different covers for collectors, including artwork from Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, Lorenzo De Felici, Tom Reilly, Stephen Green, and Khary Randolph… and we’ve got two of those covers for you to take a look at, as well as two interior pages from the special. Be warned: fans of one particular Generation 1 Autobot might be advised to brace themselves before clicking through the gallery below.

The Energon Universe Special will feature three different stories from across the Universe, with writers Robert Kirkman (Void Rivals), Daniel Warren Johnson (Transformers) and Joshua Williamson (Duke and Cobra Commander) teaming with artists Lorenzo De Felici (Kroma), Ryan Ottley (Invincible) and Jason Howard (Super Dinosaur) to further illuminate the mysteries and secrets behind the rapidly expanding universe… including what certainly looks to be something that might interest readers of both Transformers and Cobra Commander, judging from the art in the gallery below.
