The Boys is getting a 1950s era prequel starring Jensen Ackles.

Prime Video’s The Boys Universe is expanding with Vought Rising, a 1950s era spinoff starring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy.

 The Boys Universe is expanding.

During a Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke surprised the crowd by bringing Jensen Ackles onstage. Ackles plays Soldier Boy, Vought International’s Cold War era superhero. First, Kripke revealed that Soldier Boy will be a regular in The Boys season 5, but that’s not the only place where audiences will be seeing him.

Jensen read a statement announcing the next phase in Prime Video’s Boys saga. “We are excited to announce the next unhinged chapter of The Boys Universe called Vought Rising. The producers are writing the scripts right now. It will be a lurid pulp saga prequel set in New York City at the dawn of the 1950s about the humble yet diabolical beginnings of the Vought Corporation. I will be starring as Soldier Boy.”

Ackles then introduced a video message from his costar Aya Cash, who plays Stormfront on The Boys. “I think this thing is going to be incredible. We’ve got everything from Judy Garland to Joe McCarthy. How, I don’t know, I didn’t write it. But I have read it, and it’s really, really good. I hope you’ll come with us on this journey and enjoy your Comic-Con.”

It sounds like this is going to be an exciting expansion of The Boys Universe. No release date was announced, but our guess is that this will premiere sometime after The Boys fifth and final season.
