Absolute Power grounds Superman in DC's plans for the Man of Steel this July (oh, and Action Comics gets a makeover, too!)
Gail Simone and Rainbow Rowell take on Action, while DC's big summer event takes over the Superman series
Popverse's top stories of the day
- Dune: Prophecy creators promise to bring the "complexity" and "grand scale" of Frank Herbert's books and Denis Villeneuve's movies to TV
- Marvel's TV head says there's "absolutely" a future for Jon Bernthal's Punisher after his Daredevil: Born Again appearance
- Meet the Grim Reaper of The Walking Dead TV show cast, and what goes into killing someone off in the show
If there’s one thing we know about absolute power, it’s that it corrupts absolutely — but if there’s a second thing, it’s that it’s sure to make the DC comic book universe an entertaining place across summer 2024, thanks to the big event launching this July. Amanda Waller is making her big move, and that's bad news for the heroes of the DCU. Meanwhile, Batman reaches a milestone issue this month, The Penguin's secret mission comes to an end, and We3 gets an anniversary re-release to remind us that we're all old. (And that's not mentioning the hints that Poison Ivy is about to die...)
Meanwhile, in Metropolis, Superman is dealing with Amanda Waller's Amazo threat with a special guest star - no, we're not talking about returning series artist Jamal Campbell - while Action Comics gets not one, but two new creative teams as part of DC's year-long Superman Superstars program. (And they're both really exciting. No, really; look below and see.) We'd also be remiss if we didn't mention the first Omnibus collection of the "Triangle Era" of Superman comics from the late 1980s and early 1990s, which are some of this particular writer's nostalgic favorites...!
There really is a lot happening for Superman and Superfam in July. Look below and find out for yourself.
