Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki didn’t have to win an Oscar for The Boy and the Heron to secure their place as one of the most celebrated animation studios in history, but it certainly didn’t hurt. Now, GKIDS is reminding all of us what makes Studio Ghibli so special with an impressive line-up of films returning to theaters for Studio Ghibli Fest 2024.

Starting in April and running through December 2024, some of the most celebrated Ghibli films will be on the big screen once again. From the Academy Award-winning Spirited Away to the wholesomely twee and exuberant My Neighbor Totoro, some of the greatest animated films of all time are on this list. If you’ve never seen them on the big screen, you owe it to yourself to make it happen.

The full list of Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 showings and dates is:

  • Spirited Away – April 27 to May 1
  • Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind – May 19 and May 21
  • Castle in the Sky – May 20 and May 22
  • The Secret World of Arrietty – June 9 and June 11
  • When Marnie Was There – June 10 and June 12
  • Princess Mononoke – July 13 to July 17
  • Ponyo – August 3 to August 7
  • Whisper of the Heart – August 25 and August 27
  • The Cat Returns – August 26 and August 28
  • Howl’s Moving Castle – September 26 to October 3
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service – October 26 to October 30
  • Pom Poko – November 24 and November 26
  • The Tale of Princess Kaguya – November 25 and November 27
  • My Neighbor Totoro – December 7 to December 11

We firmly believe that there is a Studio Ghibli film for every occasion, so you can check the GKIDS website to find a showing near you. Unfortunately, Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 is currently only happening in US theaters, but, hopefully, that will change so that international fans can enjoy these magical films.
