Star Wars fans had the chance to learn more about the future of a galaxy far, far away, with D23 Expo 2022 revealing more about next year’s much-anticipated miniseries Star Wars: Ahsoka on Disney+ during its Saturday morning presentation.

Ahsoka is the end result of a long journey for the fan-favorite character, who originally debuted in 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated movie ahead of the series’ debut on television. Since surviving that show’s conclusion, she has appeared in Star Wars: Rebels, as well as a number of comic books, video games, and even her own novel, released in 2016. Her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian was the first time she had been portrayed by anyone other than Ashley Eckstein, with Rosario Dawson taking over the role.

The series is set in the time period of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and is expected to carry through plot threads from both series. The show is written by Ashoka’s creator, Dave Filoni, with Filoni also acting as executive producer alongside Jon Favreau.

The show started production in May, and according to a recent interview with Dawson, is still filming.
