After years of waiting, the next big Star Wars show is about to debut on Disney+ - although it's a show that is about the small things in a galaxy far, far away. (We're talking about the kids.) Get ready for the all-ages adventure that is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
Announced back during Star Wars Celebration 2022, Skeleton Crew is a series about a group of kids who find themselves stranded in space, and have to work to make their way home. Created by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts and writing collaborator Christopher Ford (and executive produced by The Mandalorian team of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni), the show has been likened to The Goonies in space… but with the addition of Jude Law as someone who looks suspiciously like a Jedi, although Lucasfilm is playing coy on that one.
So when is the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew release date?
After waiting for more than two years, the release of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is finally upon us. The first two episodes will debut on Disney+ on December 2, 2024, with new episodes following weekly after that. That means we should expect all eight episodes of the series to be available to stream either at the end of December 2024 or the beginning of January 2025.
The series promises a "Goonies in Space" vibe, with a focus on friendship and the spirit of adventure rather than following the spectre of galactic politics. However, with the series taking place in the same time period as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, we're not sure if Disney will be able to resist throwing a little crossover episode into the mix.
