Adam Scott has joined the cast of Sony's Madame Web, Variety reports. Adam Scott, best known for his work in Parks & Recreation and the Apple TV+ drama Severance (for which he just earned his Emmy nomination as best actor in a drama), is joining a cast that includes Dakota Johnson (who will play the titular Madame Web), Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahir Rahim, and Mike Epps.

Madame Web will be directed by S.J. Clarkson and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (with an earlier draft from Kerem Sanga). The film is set to release sometime in 2023. Madame Web, alongside Morbius and Kraven the Hunter, is part of a series of Spider-Man spinoff films announced after the surprise success of Sony's Venom movies.

The character Madame Web, in Marvel Comics, exists in the world of Spider-Man, where she is a mutant with the powers of precognition. While the original Madame Web is an elderly woman, the second Madame Web Julia Carpenter takes on the powers and title of the original before the original Madame Web dies. Since Dakota Johnson is not yet elderly, we assume that she will be playing the Julia Carpenter version of the character.

As of now, it has not been announced what role Adam Scott will be playing in this Madame Web film. In the near future, Adam Scott will be returning to Severance for its second season as well. Scott will also make a return to Starz for a long-awaited Party Down revival featuring other members of the sitcom's original cast.

The Amazing Spider-Man might be the most realistic and human Spider-Man movie made so far .
