SDCC 2024: What to expect at San Diego Comic-Con this year

Everything you need to know about this year's San Diego Comic-Con

Buckle up, fellow nerds, because the biggest event in pop culture is just around the corner: San Diego Comic-Con (also known as SDCC). In just a few days' time as of writing, tens of thousands of pop culture fans will descend upon the halls of the San Diego Convention Center to listen, learn, shop, game, cosplay, and more.

Let's take a look ahead at what's in the cards for SDCC 2024 so far.

When is San Diego Comic-Con 2024?

San Diego Comic Con 2024 will begin on Wednesday, July 24th with preview night, and run until Sunday, July 28th. Thursday the 25th through Sunday the 28th will be chock full of panels, meet-ups, film screenings, and so much more.

Where can I get tickets for San Diego Comic-Con 2024?

Tickets, in the form of badges, for San Diego Comic-Con 2024 have sold out. Badges for this year were sold at two different times this past fall. For returning attendees, badges went on sale on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, and went on sale for the general public on Saturday, November 18th, 2023. In order to purchase a badge, you must first make a Comic-Con Member ID account online. Badges typically sell out in a matter of hours.

Who are the major confirmed guests for SDCC 2024?

So far, the confirmed special guests of SDCC 2024 include comic book icons like Jim Lee, Mark Evanier, Gerry Conway, Rodney Barnes, J. Michael Straczynski, Roberta Gregory, Klaus Janson, Daniel Clowes, Dave Johnson, and Barbara Brandon-Croft. The list of special guests is rounded out by other heavy-hitters of comics and cartooning like Zoe Thorogood, Mariko Tamaki, Jo Duffy, "Honkun" Yuta Honda, Eric Powell, Joseph P. Illidge, Meggie Ramm, Rick Parker, Lea Seidman Hernandez, Thien Pham, Maggie Thompson, and Bryan Talbot.

Outside of comics, other special guests of SDCC 2024 include authors Christopher Paolini, Kiersten White, Naomi Novik, Linda Sunshine, and Dan Santat. The voice actor Katsuji Mori will also be a special guest of the convention. A full list of special guests can be found on the San Diego Comic-Con website.

What is the schedule for San Diego Comic-Con 2024?

Two weeks before the event, Comic-Con International: San Diego released their programming schedule - with three days of Hall H programming, and an additional day of panels in other rooms. Yes, Marvel Studios is there - as is DC Studios, as well as their comics divisions as well. And a whole lot more.

Can you watch or stream San Diego Comic-Con 2024 from home?

Officially, San Diego Comic-Con will not be streamed this year for folks wanting to watch at home. In the past, however, footage from panels have been released or "leaked" online. Fans looking for a less clandestine way to watch convention panels (albeit from other shows!) can be directed to Popverse's livestreams from New York Comic Con, C2E2, and Emerald City Comic Con.
