No one wants Samuel L. Jackson to return to Star Wars as Mace Windu more than the actor himself
We hope the show opens with "Somehow, Mace Windu returned."

The news that Disney is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is remarkable not only because it is absolutely not the news Star Wars fans were hoping to see last week but also because, for years, no one wanted to celebrate the prequel trilogy at all. Now, though, people are willing to look back with nostalgia and celebrate the things that worked in those movies, like Samual L. Jackson’s portrayal of Jedi Master Mace Windu.
Mace Windu seemingly died in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith at the hands of Palpatine’s force lightning and getting thrown out an impossibly high window, but that doesn’t seem to have dampened the actor’s hopes that he’ll get to return to the Star Wars universe someday. During an interview with Empire magazine about the prequel trilogy and its lasting impact on pop culture, Jackson had a very firm reply when confronted with the possible demise of his character. “HE’S NOT DEAD!” was his simple, three-word, caps-locked response.
Jackson followed up that message with an equally enthusiastic reply when asked what he would want to do in a potential Mace Windu series on Disney+. “EVERYTHING YES!!” he messaged back to Empire, apparently just as loud and intense when he texts as he is when he’s acting. Whether Disney gets the hint and brings back Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu is another story, but it is clear that the actor, like Natalie Portman, is open to the idea of returning to a galaxy far, far away.
A Mace Windu series could work well for the streaming site, which isn’t shy about delving into the annals of Star Wars history to find new content. After all, people in the Star Wars universe have survived worse than having their arm cut off and being flung off a skyscraper after being hit by lightning.
