Our Flag Means Death fans launch Times Square billboard (and more) in series renewal campaign

If you're moseying through Times Square today - look up. Near the corner of 46th and 7th, right by the store marquee for soccer fans Pelé Soccer, you'll see a hot pink billboard asking people to Save Our Flag Means Death, sharing a link to the fans' Renew as a Crew website. You might also run into a fan nearby, ready to spread the good world about the fan campaign to save the recently cancelled Max pirate comedy series.

The billboard has gone live today, starting at 12PM Eastern time, and will be running for 48 hours. But that's not all. According to Renew as a Crew volunteer Caitlin Young, there's more to come. Using the $10,000 budget the campaign has fundraised through fan donations, the group also has plans to rent a billboard truck as well as a airplane banner with the same message. There may even be talks of renting bus shelter spaces near the HBO offices, in case those HBO executives need a bit of a nudge.

So far the Renew as a Crew group has garnered over 60,000 signatures (read our article about when it hit 30,000) on a petition asking for the renewal of the show. HBO president has commented on the fan efforts, and mentioned he is not averse to letting the show go elsewhere, if the showrunner can manage it.

Warner Bros. didn't know what to do with Our Flag Means Death, even when they had it
