Netflix's Sandman actor Vivienne Acheampong delves into her character's relationship with Dream
Vivienne Acheampong chats with Popverse about Dream and the Dreaming
There's another comics adaptation around the corner, and it's a big one. That's right, Netflix's Sandman is about to hit streaming at the end of this week. At this year's San Diego Comic Con, Popverse had a chance to sit down with some of the cast and creators of the new show to chat about their thoughts on adapting this iconic project.
Vivienne Acheampong (The Witches), plays Lucienne, the chief librarian of the Dreaming. As for the Dreaming itself and Lucienne's relationship to that realm, Acheampong shares, "In the Dreaming, [Lucienne's] across everything. She knows every aspect of that place. She knows who's there, who's not there… she has such [wealth of knowledge], she knows every book that's been written, every story that’s been told, those untold, imagined, and it's this beautiful realm where we really see humanity in play."
As for the more personal aspect, Acheampong spoke about her characters' relationship with Sandman's protagonist Dream (Tom Sturridge), Acheampong says, "She's loyal to a fault. I think the dynamic that they have-- She's almost his moral compass. She stands back, she observes, sees what she needs to see, she advises him in the best way that she can in order for him to succeed, because that's what she wants. I think there's a lot of love there."
Sandman will be available to stream on Netflix on August 5.
