We've reported on it before, but now it's confirmed - Naruto, the beloved and internationally best-selling manga, is finally getting the live-action film treatment. A live-action adaptation of the popular manga is in the works at Lionsgate, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director/co-writer Destin Daniel Cretton on board to both write and direct the film.

It looks like the filmmakers are really looking to the manga for inspiration, as Cretton has shared that he has already met Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, in Japan. “It was a true honor to meet Kishimoto-san in Tokyo and hear his expansive vision for his creation," Cretton shared in a statement. "We are very excited to collaborate and bring NARUTO to the big screen.”

Cretton will also be producing the film, and he will be joined by producer Jeyun Munford through his commpany Hisako as well as Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Emmy Yu from Arad Productions (Borderlands), as well as Jeremy Jatcham (Dungeons & Dragons).

Lionsgate has been developing a live-action Naruto film at least since 2015, with The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey originally announced for the project.

No word yet as to when the film will go into production or when we'll be able to see it. But - as this is very much an issue near and dear to Popverse readers' hearts, we will definitely be following this story as it develops.

Until then, here's our guide on how to watch every Naruto episode and movie in chronological order.
