Prepare yourselves for the final entry in one of the greatest love stories of all time - and, of course, we’re talking about the kind of love that can only exist between a man and an alien symbiote that gives him superpowers and also occasionally makes him eat the heads of bad guys. Tom Hardy suits up one last time for the Venom: The Last Dance trailer, the finale of his Venom trilogy that promises to be its goofiest and most bizarre yet.
Sure, there are other characters in the Venom films that seem like they could be a romantic interest for Hardy’s Eddie Brock, but really, there is only room in his heart for one creature and that is the oily tentacle monster that lives in his brain. The new trailer for the upcoming anti-hero movie dropped and shows that the pair are ready to go out with a bang.
While the first Venom film suffered from an incomprehensible climax involving two inky blobs fighting at night, Venom: Let There Be Carnage realized that the core of this series is the juxtaposition between the symbiote’s almost childlike mentality and innocence and the extraordinary violence it makes Eddie Brock capable of. The Venom: The Last Dance trailer shows all of that and more.
We get it in the first scene of the trailer, which shows Venom dismantling a group of criminals before awkwardly delivering their “We are Venom” line, and we get it at the end of the trailer when Eddie Brock is riding a symbiote-infused demon-horse across the desert. This is the most overtly silly the series has ever been and I cannot think of a more fitting note to end it on. We just hope the pair get to go out in a blaze of glory, affectionately holding each other’s hand/tentacles.
Venom: The Last Dance, in all its goofy glory, is coming to cinemas on October 25, 2024.
