The Venom: The Last Dance scene that was inspired by James Bond (or at least, Tom Hardy *as* James Bond)

In a franchise that's all about suits, Venom: The Last Dance lets Tom Hardy's wardrobe go from "symbiote" to "shaken, not stirred"

The very first shot of the final Venom: The Last Dance trailer puts Hollywood hunk (and frequent tux wearer) Tom Hardy in a stylish suit-and-bow-tie combination, which wouldn't mean much for any other actor. Hardy, however, has been at the center of rumored James Bond casting ever since Daniel Craig left the role, so fans watching the scene will no doubt have visions of The Dark Knight Rises actor donning the suit again to work for MI6. But according to a recent interview with one of the main creators of Hardy's last turn in the symbiote, the look isn't just a coincidence - Hardy's rumored casting as Bond actually influenced the scene.

The news comes from perpetual Venom collaborator Kelly Marcel, who took up the director's chair for the third and final Venom film after writing the first two. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Marcel said that "There’s always been these rumors about [Tom] playing James Bond, so I may have been showing what Tom Hardy’s James Bond might look like."

Marcel explains that part of the reason Hardy's Eddie Brock is in nicer duds is that she was getting a little tired of the character's recent Hawaiin shirt motif. And yet, we can't help but notice a different part of the interview that could speak to an ulterior motive. Apparently, Kelly Marcel is on the shortlist to be the next James Bond director.

"There’s never been a female Bond director," Marcel tells THR, "and of course, when you see something like that, it’s just incredibly humbling. So I’m grateful to be mentioned alongside any of those brilliant, brilliant directors."

So while Venom 3 may be Eddie Brock & the symbiote's last dance, there may be a few more songs left for Hardy and Marcel. And who knows, perhaps the next tune will sound a lot like the James Bond theme...
