In August 2023, moviegoers were wowed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The animated superhero comedy based on the characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman brought the seminal sewer-dwelling heroes to a new generation of audiences. With a star-studded voice cast and a dynamic animation aesthetic, it’s not hard to see what made Mutant Mayhem a smash hit with audiences of all ages.
The movie featured a cast that starred Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michaelangelo, Nocolas Catu as Leonardo and Brady Noon as Raphael. Joining the titular turtles was Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom, John Cena as Rockstead, Seth Rogan as Bebop, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Natasha Demetriou as Wingnut, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Jackie Chan as Splinter, Ice Cube as Superfly, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Austin Post as Ray Fillet and Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog. The movie was directed by Jeff Rowe from a screenplay by Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, Rowe, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit from a story by Brendan O’Brien, Rogan, Goldberg and Rowe.
However, just like good pizza (or even “good bad” pizza), animated movies take time. For that reason, fans will have to wait until October 9, 2026 to see the TMNT return to the big screen.
But in the meantime, there’s other ways to get your Turtle fix. One is Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a series that follows up on the movie and features the voice cast reprising their roles from the film. And later this year, fans will be able to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed, a 3D beat ‘em up platformer video game set to debut on October 18, 2024.
