The real-life town behind The Truman Show now has an AI "concierge" - and it wants to come to your city too
This feels like a reboot of The Truman Show, but with AI.

What would a reboot of The Truman Show look like today? It'd probably have AI in it somehow, and not coincidentally, the town where that '90s Jim Carrey movie was filmed is now home to an AI all its own - built to talk to tourists and locals and direct what they do.
"Truman is your AI-powered concierge, here to make your stay effortless," reads marketing for the Truman app, with the "here" in question being the real-life town of Seaside, Florida. "Whether you need the best restaurant recommendations, beach access info, event highlights, or help getting around, Truman has you covered -- all in one easy-to-use app."
If you recall, The Truman Show is about a man who discovers in early adulthood that his entire life is a fictional construct orchestrated by television executives as a reality TV series.
I grew up near Seaside - and I was a teenager when Jim Carrey came to my area and filmed the subliminal SF comedy-drama; elements of it were filmed just a few blocks from where I am right now as I write this. While in some ways, this Truman app could be seen as just a modern-day version of an old-fashioned tourist guide, the specter of it being AI, where an artificial intelligence leads the way instead of human brainpower, feels a little bit too on-the-nose for the place where The Truman Show was filmed.
According to marketing materials for the Truman app, its owners aim to expand into other "boutique cities and markets across the country."
But I hope the makers of the Truman app got permission from The Truman Show's owners to name their project on the movie.
