Clark Kent isn't the only Daily Planet staffer with an alter ego in the new Superman movie, says Lois Lane actor

Sure, there's Lois Lane the person, but there's also "Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Lois Lane," and she wants a story from Superman...

We called out the fact that Lois Lane knows Clark Kent’s secret in the new Superman movie when the last trailer for the movie dropped — but it turns out that the conversation between the two glimpsed in the trailer is particularly important for the two characters, according to the movie’s cast.

The discussion, in which Lois interviews Clark as Superman, was used to cast the roles, it’s been revealed by director James Gunn… but it also proved to be “foundational” to understanding the characters for the actors themselves, if the new Lois Lane is to be believed. Especially because it reveals not just Clark’s other self, but Lois’s, as well.

"It's a combination of them both clicking into, in some ways, their super alter egos," Rachel Brosnahan told Entertainment Weekly, "but that's also juxtaposed with their great love for each other... I don't know if she would call it that quite yet, but they care about each other. When you start doing an interview, this is Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Lois Lane, and he's Superman, who's also the subject of this interview. They both feel very strongly about the stance that they're taking in that scene. It's one of the things that I love about their love story. While they have totally opposite worldviews, they complete each other, and they kind of need each other."

After all, it might take a Superman to save Lois from her own ambition. "She's ambitious and hungry," Brosnahan continued, talking about what’s happening in the scene as she presses Clark. "And I think, in that moment, she sees an opportunity for a front-page story."

Superman will be released July 11.
