Why is Superman available on digital after a month in theaters? Because of Peacemaker season 2

Today, you can watch James Gunn's Superman film at home - and you have Peacemaker to thank for it.
Ahead of Peacemaker season 2, which will drop on August 21 on HBO Max, Warner Bros. has released Superman digitally, available right now wherever you buy and/or rent your movies online. In an interview with Screen Rant, James Gunn explained that the decision was made after Peacemaker season 2's release date was moved up to late August.
“Well, it’s very complicated, but the truth is it is because of Peacemaker. I originally thought Peacemaker was going to be coming out next month. There was a lot of things that are beyond our control, so that Peacemaker is coming out now, and, at the end of the day, I wanted everyone to be able to see Superman that wanted to, even those people who couldn’t get to a theater before Peacemaker," Gunn said. "And that’s really the reason for it."
So there you have it, folks. Considering that Peacemaker makes a brief appearance in Superman, it only makes sense that Gunn would want fans to get as smooth a transition as possible from one era of DC stories onscreen to the next, especially as the new Red Band trailer for the show makes a case for it being the next big DCU story.
Across the three times that I saw Superman last month, Peacemaker's cameo consistently got a loud chorus of laughter from the audience. I think we can all conclude that audiences are willing to give peace a chance.
