Supergirl release date: When the second DCU movie arrives in theaters

Up in the sky! It's a drunk bird! It's a crashing plane! No, it's Supergirl!

Last summer, audiences were introduced to Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) thanks to a cameo in Superman. But this summer, Supergirl is crashing a whole movie all her own. So, when will the release date for Supergirl, the second movie in the DCU franchise helmed by James Gunn, arrive?

The Supergirl release date is June 26, 2026 in theaters. It has been a little less than a year since the previous movie in the franchise, Superman, debuted on July 11, 2025. Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira. And of course, there are plenty of other theatrical movie release dates for you to keep in mind this summer. Here's the official trailer for Supergirl:

In Supergirl, to celebrate her twenty-third birthday, the titular superhero undertakes a cross-galaxy "road trip" with her dog, Krypto (also previously and memorably introduced in Superman). But when she encounters an unexpected tragedy, her journey becomes a drive for vengeance instead. As teased by the trailer, Supergirl will also see the introduction of Lobo, as portrayed by real-life Lobo and former Aquaman actor Jason Momoa. And if you're a fan of punk rock, well, you can expect to see an appearance by Superman (David Corenswet) as well.

The theatrical release date for Supergirl is June 26, 2026.
