Star Wars star Daisy Ridley is “joyful” over the fan campaign to get Adam Driver’s sequel made

Star Wars fans aren't always known for their measured response to things, so seeing them unite around Adam Driver and The Hunt for Ben Solo warmed Daisy Ridley's heart

One thing that Star Wars fans are not known for is letting things go. When word got out that Adam Driver had spent years trying to get a The Hunt for Ben Solo movie made, fans gathered together to support the effort. The Star Wars fandom rallied around Driver and Kylo Ren as a character, something that fellow Star Wars star Daisy Ridley has found “joyful”.

While promoting her upcoming zombie film, We Bury the Dead, Daisy Ridley was asked what she knew about The Hunt for Ben Solo. “I knew a piece of it. I heard rumblings,” Ridley shared, though it doesn’t seem like she was heavily involved in the film’s development. However, Star Wars lead was touched by the fan enthusiasm for Adam Driver’s unmade Ben Solo movie.

“I do love when there is a collective of positivity,” Daisy Ridley said. “The way the internet seems to have rallied to try and get it to happen. I think it’s fantastic for us all. It’s good for us to all be united about something in a really positive way. Obviously, everyone knows he was a very popular character, but it was also lovely to think, ‘Wow, people really, really care and want this.’ I just… I like it. I like when people join forces – excuse the pun – from all around the world, all different sorts of people. I just love that the Star Wars fandom is such a huge and gorgeous array of different points of view and different people, and the fact that everyone is really behind this thing, I think, is just sort of lovely, in a time that is so f***ing nuts for probably every single person on this Earth. I think it’s wonderful. So I was surprised, and honestly, I felt joyful about how it went down.”

Daisy Ridley has had her own Star Wars return in development for years, as a planned Rey solo film was announced in 2023, but it seems no closer to beginning production, so it is possible that she has some sympathy for Adam Driver and his desire to dive back into the role of Kylo Ren.
